Viognier

Viognier has the potential to produce full-bodied wines with a luxuriant and fine character. The variety has many flavours with notes of peach, pear, violet and mineral aromas. However, these aromatic notes can be easily destroyed by too much exposure to oxygen, making the barrel fermentation a winemaking technique that requires a high level of skill from any winemaker. The potential quality of Viognier is also dependent on viticultural practices and climate, the grapes requiring a long, warm growing season to fully ripen.
