Amyndaio - Macedonia
Amyndaio - Macedonia
Amyndaio (also known as Amyntaio) is a geographic plateau located in the Northwestern Macedonia, in Greece (not to be confused with the Republic of Macedonia). It sits West of the famous PDO of Naousa where some of Greece's most expensive and finest red wines are produced. The vineyards are located between the Bermio and Voras Mountains, surrounded by four lakes, including the large Vegoritis. They are also much higher in Amyndaio than they are in Naoussa, summing 500-700m above sea level. They are almost all dominated with plantings of Xinomavro that thrives in the mild-drier climate.
