More
Cortese is a white grape variety best associated with fresh, lemon-flavoured wines from Gavi. The variety is known for its bracing acidity and its ability to retain its freshness even when grown in warm environments. Flavours like apple, peach, almond, light herbal aromas and honey are frequently associated with Cortese wine.
Gavi (or Cortese di Gavi) DOCG is located in the southern part of Piedmont region of northwestern Italy. The town of Gavi is the heart of the production area, while Cortese is the indigenous white grape variety from which it’s made. Due to the proximity to Liguria its wine and gastronomic traditions are more ligurian than piedmontese, which explains the light and fruity style of this white wine.
