Tenuta Carretta
Tenuta Carretta
Set in a charming environment, Tenuta Carretta is one of the most historic and recanted Italian wine estate, where…past, present and future are combined in a rich and fascinating way.
The Tenuta Carretta vineyards take part of the Langhe-Roero and Monferrato wine region, an extraordinary territory named UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2014 and today covers about 80 hectares.
It dates back to the 12th century and was owned also by the Counts of Roero until 1985 when it was purchased by Edoardo Miroglio, who also owns an estate in Thrace - Bulgaria.
The Podio vineyard is first mentioned in 1467 when Count Damiano entrusted the cultivation of the estate to his administrators and decreased that "salvo et riservato vites Podii Serrae" intending that half of the harvest was the property of the castle but all the grapes of Podio were reserved only for the Count.
On 35 hectares that make up a single parcel stretching from south to north-west like an Amphitheatre around the winery, extending to the nearby Langhe with 2.6 hectares of Barolo on the prestigious Cannubi Hill. The vineyards of Cascina Bordino (6.5 hectares) and Garassino (4.5 hectares) are located in the commune of Treiso and are destined for the production of Barbaresco wine. Nebbiolo d'Alba is made from the Nebbiolo grape variety which comes from the Tavoleto vineyard in the province of Alba (8 hectares).
Tenuta Carretta belongs to a fascinating and evocative environmental context but, above all, it's a winery made of people. People who work, design and collaborate together to achieve a single common goal: the production of high quality, important wines that offer unforgettable experiences.
